Essential Crochet Techniques for Modern Knitters
In this afternoon session, Carol will introduce simple crochet techniques which the modern knitter will find useful. You will learn how to do provisional cast-ons with a crochet hook, progress from a simple slip knot to crochet a chain, learn the basic slip stitch and the double crochet stitch. Carol will demonstrate how these basic stitches can be applied to a wide range of uses in knitting.
Topics covered will include: provisional cast-ons using a crochet hook – useful for hats, necklines, hems.
Crochet techniques for finishing garments, creating buttonholes, joining seams, applying simple edgings and embellishments and surface embroidery.
You will need to bring a 4mm crochet hook and two 12cm x 12cm pure wool knitted swatches using either dk or worsted (light aran) weight wool.
